⚽ A busy and thrilling week of football for Hailsham Academy! Here is how our Year 7 and Year 11 teams got on in their first away fixtures of the season:
🌟 Year 7: Determination & Promise
Our Year 7 team kicked off their season with a tough away fixture against Seahaven. Despite a narrow 5-3 loss, the newly formed squad showed incredible teamwork and fight from the first whistle.
• The Goals: Mason and Ronnie both found the back of the net with sharp finishes.
• Moment of the Match: Louie scored an absolute screamer—a spectacular 25-yard strike right into the top corner!
Although the result was not the one we hoped for, the players' incredible attitude, effort, and quality provide a strong foundation to build on. As they continue to train and develop together, there is no doubt that results will follow, and we look forward to seeing their progress in upcoming fixtures.
Well done to everyone involved on a fantastic first outing! 👏

🔥 Year 11: A 10-Goal Drama!
Our Year 11 squad opened their league campaign with an unforgettable, breathtaking 6-4 victory away at Ratton School! Travelling with a depleted squad of just 12 players due to injuries, the boys showed elite resilience to win a total rollercoaster of a match.
• The Goals: Chace marked his fairytale return to the team with a brace—including a chest-in opener and a stunning 30-yard rocket into the top corner!
• Ben scored a sensational box-to-box solo goal before later adding a crucial second, a Ratton defender turned in an Ollie cross, and Jake sealed the 3 points by slotting home the final goal of the game.
What a dramatic start to the season for Mr Delmon's side! 🏆

🌟 Vote for Sophia! 🌟
We are incredibly proud to share the inspiring story of our Year 7 student Sophia, who has been shortlisted for the Hailsham Hero Outstanding Young Person Award.
Following the loss of her beloved aunty to bowel cancer last year, Sophia wanted to make a difference in her memory. Together with her younger brother, she began creating handmade jewellery to raise funds for charities including Cancer Research UK, St Wilfrid's Hospice, local food banks, Help the Aged, and other community causes.
What started as a small act of kindness has grown into something truly remarkable, with the pair raising over £2,000 for worthy causes. Their incredible efforts have even been recognised by Queen Camilla, who commented on their work through a hospice conversation.
Sophia's compassion, resilience and determination to help others make her a very deserving finalist, and we are delighted to see her achievements recognised by the Hailsham Hero Awards.

As the Hailsham Festival comes to a close this weekend, we want to give one final, massive congratulations to all of our students who had their artwork selected for the Children's Art Competition at Gallery North - Hailsham.
Each student received a certificate to recognise their hard work, and we are thrilled to share that two of our students took home prizes!

📚✨ Year 11 Post-16 Assemblies
This week our Year 11 students have enjoyed three special assemblies with representatives from Bexhill College, Plumpton College and East Sussex College, giving them valuable insight into the exciting range of post-16 courses, enrichment opportunities and career pathways available after Year 11.
A big thank you to everyone who came to speak to our students as these sessions are a brilliant way to help them explore their options and start thinking about their next steps as they prepare for life beyond secondary school.
More information has been sent out today with key dates and information, and students can also access support and guidance by visiting the Careers Hub in the KS4 Office, where Miss Murray is available to help with post-16 applications, career planning and exploring future opportunities.
