💗💜💙 Primary Phase Race for Life 2026 💙💜💗
We are so proud of all our Primary Phase children who took part in our Race for Life event in support of Cancer Research UK on Friday. Despite the hot weather, they showed fantastic determination while staying safe and hydrated throughout the day. The children looked fantastic in their pink, purple and blue mufti, and the glitter, colourful accessories and funky hairstyles added to the fun atmosphere of the day.
A huge thank you to our families for their support and donations, to Miss Newman and the Hailsham Academy Ambassadors for helping to make the event such a success, and to our Primary PTA for providing a well-earned ice pop for every child. 🍦
Across the Secondary & Primary Phases our current total raised is now an INCREDIBLE £5,688.05!!! 🎉
This is all thanks the incredible generosity of our school community, thank you so much!
A special congratulations goes to the 11 Secondary Phase students who independently raised amazing amounts of money. They have received fundraising certificates and Cancer Research UK pin badges in recognition of their fantastic efforts. An extra mention must go to Emmie (Year 7) who raised £700, Ruby (Year 9) who raised £320, and Poppy (Year 7) who raised £260 – our highest individual fundraisers this year.
Well done, everyone, on a memorable day for a wonderful cause! 🎗️🏅

🎨 Artist of the Week 🎨
Our artist of the week this week is Sophia in Year 7 for her piece 'Dino Sunset'.
Chosen by Mr Lawrence he says 'I was enchanted by Sophia’s prehistoric painting. The whole scene has been painted with clarity and positivity, using a bold, bright colour scheme. The Diplodocus looks quite charming and I can imagine this character as the star of their own series of illustrated children’s stories'.

🎲⚔️ Warhammer School League Success! 🏆🎨
On Thursday 9th July, our Warhammer Club travelled to Warhammer World in Nottingham to compete in the Age of Sigmar School League Finals – and what a day it was! 🚍✨
Warhammer Age of Sigmar is a fantasy tabletop strategy game where players build, paint and command their own armies before competing against other armies for control of objectives in the mortal realms. 🌍⚔️
Across three challenging rounds, nine students from Hailsham Warhammer Club competed against schools from across the country, split into Veterans and Recruits categories.
The opening round proved tough, with mixed results across the team. 💪 In round two, players were matched against opponents with similar records, leading to an all-Hailsham showdown as both Joshes in the Veterans category faced off against each other! 🤝⚔️
After the final battles, students enjoyed exploring the incredible displays and gift shop before gathering for the awards ceremony. 🏰🎉
🏅 Our award winners included:
⭐ Oakley – 2nd Place Overall (Recruits), winning all his games and only missing out on 1st place on points difference.
⭐ Parker– Favourite Opponent Award 🏆
🎨 Best Painted Armies
🥇 Parker – 1st Place
🥉 Oakley – 3rd Place
⚔️ Veterans Category 🏆 Josh S achieved an incredible haul of awards:

👏 This was Hailsham's most successful year at the event yet, and we are already looking forward to building on this success in the future.

🏆 Silver Success for Hailsham Academy! 🏆
We are delighted to announce that Hailsham Academy has achieved the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year. This national award recognises schools' commitment to developing participation and competition in sport across our schools and the wider community.
This achievement reflects the dedication of our students, staff, volunteers, leaders and officials, who have helped make school sport such a success this year. From netball and football to athletics, swimming, gymnastics and the Hailsham Primary Cluster, our students have competed with enthusiasm, determination and teamwork throughout the year.
A huge thank you to our PE Department and School Games Organiser, Liz Price, for their commitment to providing outstanding sporting opportunities for our young people.
We are incredibly proud of everyone involved and look forward to aiming even higher in 2027!

🏃♂️☀️ Sports Day 2026 at Hailsham Academy Secondary Phase ☀️🏃♀️
What a fantastic day of competition, teamwork and school spirit! Students from Years 7–10 gave their all across track and field events, earning points for their mentor teams while demonstrating our MARK values throughout.
Throughout the day, students competed in a range of field and track events showcasing their athletic abilities in the javelin, shot put, discus, long jump, 800m and 200m. All students demonstrated determination, resilience and excellent sportsmanship throughout.
The whole school then came together in Period 5 for the eagerly anticipated 100m sprint and relay races. These events created a fantastic atmosphere, with students and staff cheering competitors on and supporting their mentor teams from start to finish.
👏 Congratulations to all participants, especially those who stepped up to compete in additional events and to our record breakers: ⭐ Albie – New Year 9 100m record (12.08s) ⭐ Amy – New Year 9 Long Jump record (4.60m) ⭐ Ava – New Year 7 100m record (14.22s)

Wow… what a show! 🎶✨
On Wednesday evening, our Secondary Phase Music Summer Showcase took place, and what an incredible evening it was!
Our audience was treated to an outstanding display of talent from across our school community. From stunning vocal performances and beautiful piano and flute solos to duets, bands, our fantastic staff choir and staff band, every performance showcased the dedication, confidence and musical ability of our students and staff.
The evening ended on a bittersweet note with the final performance from our amazing Year 11 band, Photo Reference. Over the past five years, they have made a lasting impact on our Performing Arts Department through their hard work, commitment and passion for music. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and wish them every success in the future—you will be greatly missed!
A huge thank you to ChristChurch for hosting us and for all of the support provided throughout the day.
Finally, thank you to our wonderful Performing Arts Department and every student who dedicated so much time and effort to rehearsals. Your hard work made the evening such a memorable success.

🎨 Artist of the Week 🎨
Our artist of the week this week is Keerthana in Year 9 for her piece 'Prehistoric World', chosen by Miss Jackson.
This piece, called 'Prehistoric World' by Keerthana, is her entry into the Hailsham Arts Festival Competition. A wonderful use of Acrylic on Canvas, skilfully painted with great perspective and tonal colour choices. Well done!

🏏Year 7 Rounders Success for Hailsham Academy! 🏏
Last week our super-talented mixed Year 7 rounders team travelled to Seahaven for a partnership tournament and produced an outstanding performance throughout the afternoon! 💪
The team secured impressive victories against Seahaven, St Catherine’s, and Turing, demonstrating fantastic teamwork, communication, and determination in every game.
👏 Special mentions go to:
⭐ Eric for his brilliant leadership
⭐ The whole team for their excellent communication and teamwork
⭐ Millie and Noah for bringing plenty of power to the pitch!
The students adapted brilliantly, quickly learning new rules and tactics and putting them into action with confidence and skill.

📢 Important Start of Day Changes at Secondary Phase
A reminder that from Monday 6 July, we will begin introducing a new Start of Day Routine designed to create a calmer, safer and more purposeful start to learning for all students.
✅ All students to enter via the bottom gate between 8:30am–8:40am and line up in designated year group areas on the Astro field.
✅ Staff will check uniform, equipment and readiness for learning.
✅ Students arriving after 8:40am will be marked late, directed to the Late Gate and issued a 15-minute detention for the following day.
✅ Breakfast Club will continue as normal from 8:15am–8:35am via the top gate. Students will then be escorted to the designated line-up area.
We appreciate the support of parents and carers in helping students arrive on time and ready to learn each day.

Year 7 Tennis 🎾
Our PE department were delighted to take a group of our Year 7 boys to Hailsham Tennis Club on Wednesday for a fantastic session with Coach Suzy.
She delivered an engaging and challenging 45-minute session that the boys thoroughly enjoyed. 🎾
Partnerships like this are invaluable for our Academy, providing students with new experiences, developing skills, and strengthening links within our local community.
