🏐 FREE Netball Club sessions for Hailsham Academy students!
We're delighted to share an exciting opportunity for Hailsham Academy students to take part in FREE netball sessions with Hailsham Netball Club.
🏐 Every Wednesday throughout November
🏐 Sessions run from 6:00pm to 7:00pm
🏐 Hailsham Academy Secondary Phase Sports Hall
🏐 Qualified and experienced coaches
🏐 FREE of charge
The sessions are primarily aimed at secondary-aged students, with Years 7 and 8 particularly encouraged to attend, but younger students in Years 5 and 6 who are keen to give netball a try are also very welcome.
Whether you're completely new to netball or already enjoy playing, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved, make new friends and develop your skills in a fun and supportive environment.

🌺 Supporting the Poppy Appeal 🌺
We are proud to be supporting this year's Poppy Appeal by selling poppies and remembrance gifts in the secondary phase canteen for one week from Monday 2nd November.
Students will be able to purchase poppies during morning break and lunchtime, with poppies available for any donation. A selection of remembrance gifts will also be on sale for 50p per item.
Every contribution, no matter how small, helps support the invaluable work carried out by the Royal British Legion and provides an opportunity to reflect on and remember those who have served.

📣 Year 6 Parents and Carers: Don't miss the secondary school application deadline.
As families make their final secondary school choices, we'd like to remind parents and carers to check the application deadline with their home local authority and ensure applications are submitted on time.
For families living in East Sussex, the deadline to apply for a secondary school place for September 2027 is Saturday 31 October 2026.
For families living in Kent, applications for Year 7 places close on Monday 2 November 2026.
Applications received after the relevant deadline are considered late, which may affect the likelihood of securing a preferred school place.

🏐 A week of competitive netball for Hailsham Academy! 🏐
Our Year 9 and Year 10 teams faced challenging A League fixtures against Willingdon School and Seaford Head School last week, showing outstanding determination and teamwork throughout.
⭐ Year 9 celebrated a fantastic 15-14 win over Willingdon in a nail-biting match.
⭐ Year 10 pushed a strong Seaford side all the way in an excellent performance, narrowly losing 25-21.
Competing in the A League means facing some of the toughest opposition in the area, and both Hailsham Academy teams displayed resilience, commitment and superb sportsmanship. Every match is helping them grow in confidence and experience, and we couldn't be prouder of their efforts. 💙💛

As families begin making their final secondary school choices, we would like to share a reminder that applications for a secondary school place for September 2027 must be submitted through East Sussex County Council by Saturday 31 October 2026.

📚 Maths Study Day at the University of Sussex ➕🍕
On Friday 16 October, a group of our Year 11 students attended a Maths Study Day at the University of Sussex, delivered by the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP).
Throughout the day, students took part in a series of engaging workshops covering key GCSE Higher Tier topics, including cumulative frequency graphs, box plots and bounds. They also enjoyed an introduction to future topics such as histograms and circle theorems.
A major focus of the day was developing resilience, problem-solving skills and mathematical communication. Our students rose to every challenge, working collaboratively, contributing confidently during presentations and representing the school exceptionally well. We were particularly proud of their positive attitude, respectful conduct and willingness to share answers in front of students from other schools.
There was also time for a memorable discovery during lunch (and possible the highlight of the day) ... a pizza vending machine! 🍕 Naturally, a team photo was a must.
With our next Study Day taking place in November, it's fantastic to see such enthusiasm and commitment from our Year 11 mathematicians as they continue striving for their very best grades.

⚽🔝 Year 7s Go Top of the League! 🔝⚽
Our Year 7 boys continued their impressive start to the season with a fantastic 3-0 away victory over Turing School, a result that sees them move to the top of the league table! 💙💛
The match started as a closely contested affair, with both teams creating chances. Some excellent defending and confident goalkeeping kept the score level before Hailsham stepped up a gear. Brilliant passing and movement created a number of opportunities, with Mason opening the scoring before Harrison doubled the lead to give us a deserved 2-0 advantage at half-time.
Turing pushed hard in the second half, but our defence stood firm and produced a resilient display to protect the lead. A quick counter-attack then sealed the victory, with Louie finishing superbly to make it 3-0 and secure all three points.
A brilliant team performance and another clean sheet. Congratulations to the boys on a well-deserved win and their place at the top of the league! 👏

A fantastic programme of free holiday activities is available for eligible children and young people across East Sussex.
Funded through the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF), the programme provides eligible children and young people with exciting activities, a food offer and opportunities to make new friends, it's a great way to stay active and engaged during the break.

⚽ YEAR 10 FOOTBALL | WHAT A COMEBACK! ⚽
🔵🟡 HAILSHAM 2–2 CAVENDISH
A fantastic display of character and togetherness saw Hailsham's Year 10 Boys Team fight back from two goals down inside the first five minutes to secure a thoroughly deserved point against Cavendish!
With several regulars missing, this was an opportunity for other players to step up. Every single player delivered a wholehearted performance full of heart, resilience, and belief.
🗣️ Coach Wilkinson said:
"I am immensely proud of the boys tonight. To respond the way we did says everything about the character of this group. It was built on hard work and a willingness to fight for each other. If we continue to show that spirit, the results will follow."
⭐ Man of the Match:
Ronnie scored both goals and took home the Sky Sports Man of the Match for a brilliant all-round attacking performance!
👏 A point earned through hard work, belief, and a proper team effort. Plenty to build on!

Our DT students have been putting their practical skills to the test this week, with our Year 8's using the fret saw for the very first time in Mr Wilkinson's lesson.
It was fantastic to see the class so engaged, focused and committed throughout the lesson. Their enthusiasm, attention to detail and positive learning attitudes made for a highly productive session. 🌟
