Make Your MARK

At Hailsham Academy Primary Phase, we know that our children's attitudes to learning are one of the most important factors in their success. Our MARK values reflect the behaviours and characteristics we nurture in our pupils, helping them to grow into confident, capable and well-rounded learners.

MARK stands for Motivated, Articulate, Resilient and Knowledgeable, and these values are embedded in our classrooms, our curriculum and our wider school culture.

Alongside our learning values, we also promote our everyday social values of Manners, Acceptance, Respect and Kindness, which underpin behaviour and relationships across our school community.

Throughout the week, our staff recognise and celebrate how our pupils demonstrate these values in their learning and behaviour.

Motivated:

I am motivated to learn and take pride in my work. I approach tasks with enthusiasm, try my best at all times and respond positively to feedback. I am organised and ready to learn.

Articulate:

I share my ideas clearly and confidently. I listen carefully to others and respond thoughtfully. I am developing a growing vocabulary and can express myself with increasing confidence.

Resilient:

When I find something challenging, I keep trying. I understand that learning can be difficult and I use strategies, resources and support to help me improve. I take responsibility for my own learning.

Knowledgeable:

I build on what I already know to develop new understanding. I use strategies to help me remember key knowledge and apply it in my learning.

Each week, we are proud to recognise pupils who demonstrate our MARK values in action.

MARK Values Award
Each week, one of our MARK values is celebrated, and pupils who demonstrate this value exceptionally well are recognised in assembly.

Workers of the Week
We also celebrate pupils who have shown excellent effort, commitment and progress in their learning across the week.

These celebrations are an important part of our school culture, helping to build confidence, raise aspirations and recognise the achievements of all our pupils.
