School Uniform and Equipment
Uniform Update
In light of the proposed national changes to uniform guidance regarding branded items, MARK Education Trust has carried out a full review of uniform expectations across all our schools. As part of this process, new uniform requirements will come into effect for both our primary and secondary phases from September 2026.
These updates not only reflect new national expectations but also support our transition to a refreshed identity as Hailsham Academy, ensuring that our uniform aligns with our values, branding and vision for the future.
A full uniform and equipment policy, including images and detailed requirements, will be published for all phases in Term 6.
The deadline date for online orders via Monkhouse to be delivered before September is Sunday 16 August. Home delivery is free for orders over £85.00.

MARK Education Trust believes that a consistent school uniform policy is vital to promote the ethos of its schools and to provide a sense of belonging and identity for all learners, which prevents peer pressure to wear certain clothes/brands regardless of their protected characteristics or socio-economic circumstances.
We believe that learners most effectively achieve their best outcomes when they are comfortable and dressed in such a way that sets an appropriate tone for education.
Our uniform is based heavily on learner preference and addresses some of the most pertinent points raised during the consultation process. It also reflects our high standards, expectations, motto and core values and is designed with all learners in mind and is smart, comfortable and economical.
Uniform is one of the outward signs by which the local community recognises our students and it is important that our students present themselves in a positive, professional way that conveys a disciplined and well-ordered learning environment.
We expect parents to endorse these principles and support the school to ensure the uniform code applies to every student from Reception through to year 11. All learners are required to wear their school uniform whilst journeying to and from school, and whilst inside and outside the school buildings. The uniform should be neat and clean, communicating that our learners take pride in belonging to an Academy within MARK Education Trust.
Specialist subjects such as the Sciences, Art and Technology may require protective clothing, about which staff will advise students. If a student does not wear the recommended protective clothing, the school cannot accept responsibility for any damage to other clothing.
