Trampoline and Gymnastics Success
Last week was a busy and successful one for our Gymnastics and Trampolining Team with two big competitions and some fantastic results. Well done to all involved!
Gymnastics and Trampoline Competition
On Wednesday 11th March, Mrs Fitch-Preston took students from Years 7, 9 and 10 to compete in the annual Gymnastics and Trampoline Competition at St Catherine’s. We were lucky enough to come away with outstanding results, including 1st and 3rd place routines in the advanced trampoline competition, 1st place in the Year 9 advanced team competition, and 1st place in the Year 10 gymnastics team competition.
A special mention must go to Casey, who has now won the advanced trampoline competition for three consecutive years. Her resilience, dedication and motivation during training have clearly paid off, and she continues to be an excellent role model for our younger athletes.
The girls achieved such wonderful results thanks to their strong technical knowledge, their ability to perform skills with precision, and their confidence in combining these skills into what can only be described as exceptional routines.
All the girls represented the school in the very best way, consistently demonstrating the ‘Mark’ values. They showed respect for one another through their coaching, encouragement and support during both practice and competition and, as always, they displayed true etiquette, sportsmanship and compassion towards the other schools competing.

National Schools Trampoline Finals
After qualifying through two previous competitions and beating hundreds of other teams across 15 regions and three zones, five pupils from Hailsham Academy took part in the National Schools Trampoline Finals on Saturday 14th March at the Derby Arena Velodrome.
In the Years 7–9 advanced category, the team of four – Jess, Sophie, Amy and Ruby – performed brilliantly. Sophie also competed individually alongside another Jump Club member who was representing Ratton School. Sophie finished 7th in Great Britain, and the team finished 4th overall, which is an amazing achievement.
A special shout‑out goes to Year 7 student Jess, who was competing for the first time, and to Ruby, who moved up a group to ensure the team was complete.
In the senior section (Years 10–14), Ella delivered two excellent routines and finished 14th. Another club member placed 2nd in the C2 intermediate category.
It was a long weekend, but coach Karen Street is extremely proud, not only of the students’ performances, but also of the way they represented the school with fantastic sportsmanship throughout the entire competition. This is an achievement all the competitors should be incredibly proud of.
Well done girls!
