Sportshall Athletics Competition
What a week for Hailsham Academy athletics. Three determined teams headed to Willingdon School for the local Sportshall Athletics Competition, ready to take on 10 rival schools in a fast‑paced mix of running and field events. From obstacle relays and the gruelling 8‑lap paarlauf to speed bounce and standing long jump, our students threw themselves into every challenge with real fire.
Final standings:
- Year 7: Girls 7th | Boys 4th
- Year 8: Girls 7th | Boys 11th
- Year 9: Girls 4th | Boys 5th
Across all year groups, there were standout moments that lit up the hall;
- Jensen (Year 7) was simply unstoppable, storming to victory in every one of his running events.
- Poppy (Year 8) soared past the competition to claim first place in the standing long jump, beating ten other athletes.
- Max (Year 9) showed incredible agility and focus, securing a brilliant 2nd place in the speed bounce.
Every single participant represented Hailsham Academy with pride. The PE department were blown away by the talent, grit and team spirit on display. Performances like these don’t just earn points — they earn respect, and they’ve helped put Hailsham Academy firmly on the map among our local sporting rivals.
The energy, the effort, the camaraderie… it was everything school sport should be.
