Hailsham hit five of the best past Seaford in dominant display

The Year 11 Football Team delivered a masterclass on Monday 19 January, dismantling Seaford 5-0 in a league fixture at home. Driven by a relentless work rate and tactical discipline, the hosts secured a commanding victory that highlighted both their individual flair and collective resilience.

The game plan was clear from the outset: stay on the front foot and exploit the space in the channels. The midfield trio of Ben, Harry, and Sonny established immediate dominance, winning aerial duels and dictating the tempo through simple, effective football.

The breakthrough came in the opening minutes. Harry lofted a brilliant ball to Ben, whose clever flick released Jake. Showing great composure, Jake took the ball down and finished coolly past the goalkeeper. The lead was doubled shortly after when intricate passing on the edge of the box allowed Kaydon to burst into the left channel; his driven cross found George, who was perfectly placed to tap home.

A moment of controversy followed when Kaydon appeared to be brought down inside the area by a desperate Seaford defender. Despite the penalty shout being waved away, Hailsham showed great character to battle on. George soon settled the side down, latching onto a Sonny through-ball and beating both his man and the keeper to finish with aplomb for his second of the afternoon.

Following a half-time talk from Mr. Delmon focused on guarding against complacency, Hailsham maintained their stranglehold. While Alex and George both went close to adding further goals, the pressure finally told when Sonny played another perfectly timed ball for Harry. Harry drove into the box and rifled a powerful shot into the top corner for the fourth. The rout was completed when Hailsham caught Seaford napping from a drop-ball situation. Sonny once again provided the vision, picking out Harry for his second and Hailsham’s fifth.

While the scoreline reflected the attacking prowess, the victory was built on a solid foundation:

The Engine Room: Sonny was relentless, at one point dribbling out of his own area past three players. Ben was equally tenacious, winning every 50/50, while Harry showed incredible vision in his return from a long-term injury.

The Wall: The back four were faultless. Obi, making his season debut, showed immediate chemistry with the calm and collected Caleb. On the left, Daniel was heroic, making vital blocks that left goalkeeper George largely untested and more worried about if he would make his 4:30pm shift at work.

The Front Line: Kaydon’s blistering pace and the intricate footwork of Jake, Alex, and George kept the Seaford defence in a constant state of panic throughout.

It was quite simply a performance to be proud of. Please congratulate the Year 11 boys when you see them next for their hard work and dedication. The team now turns their attention to the next challenge, as St Catherine’s await.
