Year 9 Basketball Tournament – TEA
The Year 9 basketball 3v3 tournament at TEA delivered an exciting afternoon of competition, with Hailsham Academy Girls producing a truly outstanding performance to be crowned champions.
Hailsham Academy dominated the group stages, winning all four of their games in convincing fashion with score lines of 10–2, 8–2, 10–2 and 8–6. Their consistency, teamwork and determination set them apart from the outset and quickly marked them as strong tournament favourites.
Standout performances came from Rosie and Polly. Their sharp intercepting, strong ball-carrying and relentless work rate repeatedly broke down opposition attacks and launched Hailsham’s counter play. At the shooting end, Millie and Elsa were clinical, showing great composure and accuracy to convert chances under pressure.
The final proved to be a tense and closely fought contest, with both teams giving everything. Neither side could be separated at full time, the match ending 8–8 after an intense battle. The title was eventually decided by a dramatic shoot-out, which went to sudden death. Holding their nerve in the most pressurised moments, Hailsham Academy edged it to secure a deserved tournament victory.
It was a fantastic team performance from Hailsham Academy Girls and a well-earned win after an impressive and undefeated run throughout the tournament.
