Year 9s Secure League Title in Style

Hailsham Academy’s Year 9 Football Team win the Cup League with their final two matches.

Hailsham Academy vs. Seaford – 1 December – Match Report

The Hailsham Year 9 football team survived gale-force winds to emerge victorious in a feisty cup tie at home to Seaford.

Hailsham struck early through a well-worked Albie Wood goal before being pulled back. Wood restored the lead shortly after, finishing off excellent wing play from Harry Isted.

Midway through the second half, Seaford took the lead for the first time, but with five minutes to go Isted levelled the score. Then, in the final minute—and with the wind howling even stronger—Wood sealed his hat-trick and the win with a composed low finish.

A deserved win in awful conditions, built on belief, courage and resilience. We now look ahead to the next round of the Cup and a league fixture against Ratton on Thursday.

Sky Sports Player of the Match: ⭐ Logan Whiteman — outstanding throughout with a series of superb saves to keep his team in the game

Hailsham Academy vs. Ratton – 4 December – Match Report

Needing a win in their final league game to seal the title, the Year 9s flew out of the blocks and quickly stormed into a 4–0 lead thanks to goals from Harry, Josh, and a brilliant Albie brace. The pressure didn’t stop there—wave after wave of attacks forced Ratton into some superb last-ditch defending.

Before the break, Albie rounded the keeper twice more to complete a first-half haul of four goals, taking the team into halftime with a commanding 6–0 advantage.

A number of changes at the interval disrupted the rhythm, and the second half proved more even, with Ratton scoring a fantastic consolation from the tightest of angles.

While Albie’s goals, Harry’s dribbling, and Seb’s composure all stood out, it was Josh who claimed the Barclays Player of the Match for his constant threat down the right and relentless supply into the box.

👏 Huge congratulations to the Year 9 team on winning the league!

We now look ahead to a cup clash against St Catherine’s.

A special shout-out to Jacob for running the line in all five games so far this season—top work!
