Uniform update
In light of the proposed national changes to uniform guidance regarding branded items, MARK Education Trust has carried out a full review of uniform expectations across all our schools. As part of this process, new uniform requirements will come into effect for both our primary and secondary phases from September 2026.
These updates not only reflect new national expectations, but also support our transition to a refreshed identity as Hailsham Academy, ensuring that our uniform aligns with our values, branding and vision for the future.
Changes from September 2026: Primary Phase
From September 2026, updated Hailsham Academy branded items will be introduced for the Primary Phase. These changes are designed to ensure our uniform remains affordable, accessible and sustainable, while supporting a consistent identity across both phases of the Academy.
Key updates include:
- New Hailsham Academy sweatshirt or cardigan (updated branding) for all new pupils joining from September 2026.
- New Hailsham Academy PE top for all new pupils joining from September 2026.
- Current pupils may continue to wear their existing uniform until items need replacing. When replacements are required, families should purchase the updated Hailsham Academy branded versions.
- Pupils transitioning into Year 7 in September 2026 must follow the updated Secondary Phase uniform requirements.
Please note: The new Hailsham Academy Primary Phase uniform items will be available to order online from this Friday 8 May via our uniform supplier’s website: Monkhouse: Hailsham Academy Primary.
The deadline date for online orders to be delivered before September is Sunday 16 August. Home delivery is free for orders over £85.00.

We kindly ask that any unwanted or second-hand uniform items are donated to our Hailsham Academy Primary Phase PTA (email: ).
A full uniform and equipment policy, including images and detailed requirements, will be published in Term 6.
PRIMARY PHASE POLICY
Primary uniform can also be purchased direct from our uniform supplier, Monkhouse Schoolwear.
Compulsory uniform (unisex):
- PE kit (unisex)
- A red sweatshirt or cardigan with HCC logo.
- Plain white polo shirt.
- Charcoal, black or grey trousers, dress or skirt.
- Red, white, black or grey tights or socks.
- Black smart shoes – no open toe, trainer or strap backs.
- An optional red/white checked summer dress and grey or black shorts may be worn in Terms 1, 5 and 6.*
- Book bag – available from the Primary Office.
*For parents looking to buy a new checked summer dress, Sainsburys (TU Clothing) sell dark red gingham dresses in a two-pack that you may prefer to buy as this will be a similar colour to the new Hailsham Primary cardigan. Links below.

PE:
- Red PE T-shirt with HCC logo
- Black PE shorts
- Black plimsolls
Jewellery:
- One small stud in each earlobe.
- No facial piercings.
- No necklaces, bracelets or rings.
- A wristwatch is allowed. Where a smart watch is worn (please note that in assessments and examinations smart watches must be removed), it must not be used as a communication device.
Hairstyles:
- Extreme hairstyles are not permitted in the school.
- “Carved/cut designs” are not permitted.
- Brightly coloured hair dye added to their natural colour is not permitted (this applies to both boys and girls).
- Long hair must be tied up neatly for school.
Nail varnish is not permitted.
Uniform for the Primary Phase can be purchased online via Monkhouse Schoolwear.
Book bags can be purchased directly from the Primary school office at the Bulrush Lane Site.
