Sixth Form Consultation

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

Re: Update on Hailsham Academy Sixth Form

Following a rigorous consultation process involving stakeholders across the Academy’s wide catchment area, we can now confirm that the Department for Education has supported the decision taken by Hailsham Community College Academy Trust (HCCAT) in July 2025, to close Hailsham Academy’s sixth form provision. This means that the sixth form will close fully on 31st August 2026.

MARK Education Trust, alongside our staff and school community, fully appreciate that this news will be disappointing for many, and we share that sense of sadness. Please be assured that our absolute priority remains the success and wellbeing of our students. We are committed to supporting our current Year 13 cohort through their studies and onto their chosen destinations as the final group of post-16 students at Hailsham Academy.

Our Head of Sixth Form, Jake Lambert, and Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Chris Jackson, will continue to provide dedicated academic and pastoral support throughout this final year, ensuring that every student has the guidance and resources they need to achieve their ambitions.

While this marks the end of an important chapter in our school’s history, our focus will always be on helping young people thrive in their next steps. We would like to express our gratitude to our students, families, staff, and the wider community for their understanding and support throughout this difficult process.

Tomorrow is our Year 11 Parents’/Carers’ Evening, and our staff are very much looking forward to meeting with you. If you would like to discuss how the college will continue to support your child throughout the remainder of Year 11, our Senior Leaders will be available at the F Block entrance and will be happy to speak with you.

If you have any further questions or require further guidance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Together, we will ensure that every student feels supported and prepared for a successful future.

Yours faithfully,

Anna Robinson
